Generosity
I don't know how many of you out there live close to family? I do, and I am very fortunate that both of my grandmothers are living. This blog is going to focus on my maternal grandmother and her generosity. Granny is always there when I need her, whether I need her to pick the kids up from school , or watch them for me to go to a meeting, or I just need to call and have her listen about my stressful day I know I can depend on her. She does it with no ulterior motive not expecting anything in return, but because she loves me, as I love her. This past Tuesday we went over to her house to visit until soccer practice and it happened to be Colin's birthday. Granny had gone and gotten him some cupcakes and set them up candles and all so we could surprise him. Little things like that mean so much. I cannot tell you how many times she has cooked for me and brought it by my office so that I would not have to worry with fixing dinner when I came home from work. And every time I leave her house she must give me something whether it is a pack of gum, or grapes, or cookies. I am so thankful for my grandmother and I am so thankful for the relationship I have with her. I hope she knows how very much she means to me.

Classic
So tomorrow is Colin's 6th birthday and he wants a bowling party. This past Saturday the kids and I went to the bowling alley to make reservations for his party and pay the deposit. On the way into Savannah I stopped at Sonic and got us all milkshakes, I tell you this because I am going to blame the milkshakes for my stupidity.
We pull up at the bowling alley and I turn off the car, then proceed to collect all of our cups so I can throw them away. We go inside and get everything settled for the party when I reach in my purse for my keys. Only to realize they are not there. They are sitting on the console where I left them along with my cell as I was collecting those dang milkshake cups :)
Michael has the only other key to the van and he was playing golf. Thanks goodness for my grandma who came to our rescue and let me borrow her car to go retrieve my spare key from him. Sad part is this is not the first time I have done this and I am quite sure it will not be the last.

Dragging my feet
I have really been exhausted this past week. Why you ask? Well Cat has started back to soccer and has practice on Mondays and Tuesdays this season from 5:45 to 6:45. As most of you know we live about 45 minutes out of town, so this means on nights she has practice we don't end up getting home until after 7pm. Colin will be starting practice soon, here is hoping his will be on one of Cat's nights (where Michael and I can split it, and not get home late three dyas a week).
On top of soccer starting back and trying to get myself into the routine of school and homework again for the kids. I had a dinner meeting Monday evening that I did not get out of until after 9pm. Then the next day we had a seminar at work we were hosting. And the icing on the cake is how miserable Cody has been this week. He has had an ulcer on his tongue where he bit it. He has whined constantly when he is at home (but not a school, gotta love it). He also stepped ina an ant bed at school on Tuesday when they went to the park. So did not not have the best week ether, although who could blame him. I actually fell asleep on the couch last night at 7:30 (of course I was a wakened at 8:15), but still I guess that was my body telling me to slow down. Hope everyone has a great weekend, I will be hosting my father's b-day party :)

When you are 5
TV is better viewed from a handstand position on the sofa
It takes an hour and a half to eat dinner (I guess it tastes better cold)
You have a VERY VERY short term memory (i.e. you cannot remember your mama telling you to not run through the dining room five seconds earlier)
It is really hard not to wiggle
But my personal favorite, Your mama is still the center of your world (where as you will always be the center of hers)

Raising a Nudist
As some of you may already know Cody has gotten into a new habit. I say new but I guess he has really been doing it on a regular basis for a few months now. He has decided that when he is mad at me he will strip down buck naked and parade around the house. I guess he thinks he is making me mad?? Who knows, but once again last night Cody ate his dinner in the buff. There are those of you that might think I am crazy for letting him, but after three children I have learned to pick my battles and if he wants to be nude more power to him. You could say he gets it honest as we have another nudist in the family (I'm not naming names, MOM)

Can you guess
What today is? The first day of school, don't they look excited?? It seems like I was just posting about the end of school. Oh well, goodbye summer. Actually they were more excited than the pictures might lead you to believe. Neither one of them were very happy about getting in front of the camera this morning. Anyways I cannot believe my Cat is in 5th grade. She gets to be "big man" on campus this year. Here is hoping they have a great first day :)

Lots and Lots...
of SWIMMING!

That is what our weekend consisted of. We went and visited Michael's sister this past weekend in Columbus, GA. It was the first time we had been there (in the six years since she moved away). We will definitely not be waiting another six to return. We had such a good time and really appreciate them having us. They have a beautiful backyard escape including a pool (which the kids made mega use of). Below are a few pictures from the weekend.
