Big Boy Now

Okay, so a few weeks back I bought Cody a headboard and bed frame (already had the mattress) and I set up his "new big boy bed". I have been asking him since that time if he was going to sleep in it. More often than not he would tell me yes, but then when bedtime approached his mind changed and it was too scary. Now keep in mind Cody has shared a room with his big brother since he's been born, so not only was he moving to a new bed but his very own room as well.

Yesterday, I decided that the only way I would get him to willfully sleep in his new bed was to take down the crib and put it in the attic (which I did while he watched unhappily). When bedtime came around he was not real excited about his new digs he fussed a little and I ended up rubbing his back to get him to sleep (which was pretty fast, guess he was tired). Good news, he slept in his new bed all night. He looks so tiny in that big bed. I cannot believe how fast my baby is growing up. Now on to the next big step. The dreaded POTTY TRAINING :0

Storm a comin

Well at least that is what the weathermen are saying. Looks like we are going to be in for a rainy Saturday, which is a real bummer. Also since we have moved into our new house, I have been getting really paranoid when we have a lot of wind. To say that my house is surrounded by a lot of trees would be an understatement, and when those big old oaks start swaying around, it tends to be rather intimidating. I keep having these visions of one crashing down into our house (yes i am being paranoid). Also the fact that we had lightning strike one of the trees in our front yard last summer does not help the uneasy feeling.

Birthdays...

Three of the most important women in my life celebrated their birthdays this month; my mother, my grandmother, and my mother-in-law. This weekend we had a party at my house in their honor. Below are some of my thoughts and qualities I admire in each of them.

My Mother – You will never meet a gentler soul. She is good in every sense of the word. She is selfless. She believes in the good in others and treats everyone with kindness and respect.

My Grandmother – Makes me think of the sun. She is always warm and welcoming. She always has a smile on her face and looks towards the Brightside of any situation.

My Mother-in law – Goes above and beyond for her family. She enjoys giving of her time and herself and always makes every family gathering special. Beyond that let me add that she raised a wonderful man in my husband instilling him with so many values that I cherish and for that I am grateful.

I love you all three and am so blessed to have you in my life to learn from.

Battle

Sorry I have been missing for awhile. Sunday a week ago (March 8th) Cat came down with a fever, it was low grade and she was really not complaining (although she never complains about feeling bad, you never know she is sick until she is REALLY sick). By Wednesday the fever had not broken so off to the doctor we went they tested her for the flu (A & B) and strep. The strep was negative as was influenza type A, but she tested positive for tybe B flu and her doctor said she must stay home from school until she was fever free for 24 hours. Long story short she never did loose the fever until this Sunday the 15th and ended up missing the whole week of school.

Which brings us to this week. Monday night Colin had been upstairs playing with his brother and sister when out of nowhere he came downstairs and laid on the couch. When I asked him if he was okay he told me yes nothing was wrong. However when I went over to the couch to sit by him he was burning up. Thus here we go again. Let's hope it will skip Cody all together.

No need to Fear

With the Willoughy boys near...

Last night after bathtime Colin and Cody decided to dress up in their costumes and play superhero. So I had Batman (aka Colin) and Buzz Lightyear (aka Cody) running through the house getting "dos bad guys" as Cody would say. It was sooo cute. I wish I had had a camera to capture the moment.

After about an hour Cat decided it looked like fun. So she dressed up as a ninja and joined in. I love to watch them all play together.

The Beginning

Today is Ash Wednesday and thus the beginning of the Lenten season. For those who don’t know (short version) lent is a forty day long liturgical season of fasting and prayer before Easter. The purpose of Lent is for you to prepare through prayer, penitence, alms-giving and self denial for the resurrection.

I have been thinking of what I might be giving up this year for Lent. I think my choice may be seen more as self discipline than a self denial. For those of you who know me, you know that my vocabulary can be rather colorful. Thus my goal for Lent is to keep my vocabulary clean. What are you doing for Lent this year?

A Decade Past

So I have hit a big milestone in my life since the last time I posted. For those of you that do not know what I am talking about, I turned the dreaded 3 oh.

I remember on my 26th birthday I was so upset that I was closer to 30 than 20. But I am over that fear, I am not one of those women that wants to hold onto my youth at all costs for with age comes experience. I cannot believe all that has taken place in my life over the past ten years some of the most memorable are. I have given birth to three beautiful children, watched them grow and learn from me as I have from them; I have married my best friend the love of my life; bought my first house; helped my husband start his own business; built my dream house; started my current job (8 years now) that I love. I cannot wait to see what the next ten have in store.
